Join the Web3D Consortium
The Web3D Consortium is a non-profit group open to industry, academic, government and individual members, committed to the creation and deployment of open, royalty-free ISO standards that enable interactive, real-time 3D on the Web. Our standard X3D is Web ready and supports wide range of applications. X3D runs on all platforms including laptops, tablets, phones, immersive headsets, and large-scale CAVES.
Founded in 1997, we are an International, non-profit, member-funded, industry standards development organization. We develop and maintain open, royalty-free ISO standards for web-based 3D graphics. Our standard X3D (Extensible 3D) originated from VRML and is available in XML, Compressed Binary, and classic VRML formats. X3D is a scene-graph description language that integrates network-enabled 3D graphics and multimedia. X3D design supports 3D models as Web pages and includes similarities to HTML pages.
New Member Package. Join our community events: Annual Web3D Conference and VR Hackathons. Web3D membership provides real benefits for 3D graphics communication, networking, leadership, marketing, and specification development. Formal Web3D Consortium By-Laws govern our organization. Web3D members agree to follow the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Policy for all technical contributions. This approach protects a massive set of technology capabilities, keeping X3D and related standards royalty free for any use.
